The Lindbergh School District in St. Louis, Missouri, is proud to present the Sperreng Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Brian Wyss. The Sperreng jazz experience begins in the summer after sixth grade at our Sperreng Summer Band Camp. Nearly 100 students participate in the summer jazz program in both jazz band and improvisation classes. During the school year students may play in the Jazz Band or audition for the Jazz Ensemble. Both bands rehearse before school with the Jazz Ensemble having a more rigorous schedule. The Sperreng Jazz Ensemble has received numerous accolades during the past ten years including being selected as the first and only middle school jazz band to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Conference In 2005. In 2006, they were selected to perform as the feature band at the University of Louisville Jazz Festival’s evening concert. The Sperreng Jazz Ensemble has traditionally had many of its students successfully audition into the St. Louis All-Suburban Middle School Jazz Band. The Lindbergh Band Program takes great pride in all five jazz bands that provide performance opportunities to over 150 of its 750 band students.
